The Father of History of Ardabil/ Azarbaijan of Iran

Legendary Azarbaijnani historian, Islam expert Baba Safari, one of the stars of Azarbaijan in Iran died, aged 82.
Baba Safari was born in Ardabil, Azarbaijan province of Iran, in 1920, and built a scientific reputation before the islamic revolution that brought current leaders to power. During the 1960s and 1970s he worked as an assistant for deputy prime ministers in the Ogaf's affairs. He was a teacher in schools; he wrote with some other authors the books of history and geography for Iranian schools before the emergence of Islamic Republic of Iran. People of Ardabil will not forget the outstanding achievements in the educational system of their city, when Baba Safari undertook the responsibility of the deputy director in the ministry of culture of Ardabil in 1949.
In 1970s, he wrote his outstanding books related to history of Ardabil: Ardabil-Dar-Ghozarghah-E-Tarikh. Now, there are 4 volumes of these books, but the 4th volume of the Ardabil-Dar-Ghozarghah-E-Tarikh with other books of Baba Safari are in the speical department of the ministry of Ershad-Eslami, where the authorities of this ministry are restricting the issuance of many books.
The books of Baba Safari are widely used for the academic purposes in many countries and he is known as the father of history of Ardabil.
His mazar is in the Behesht-e-Zahra of Ardabil in the special section for scientists and artists. This year, on July 14, 2006 many people will commemorate his name; he remains as an outstanding personality in the history of Ardabil, Azarbaijan and Iran.
